Views about ISO

Yesterday, the meeting of ISO is held in our college. The institute is trying to get the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certification this year. The aim of this meeting was to aware the faculty members about the ISO norms so they will prepare themselves accordingly.

Before this meeting, I have only heard the name of ISO in books as ell as in front of the names of certified institutes. Many of the computer hardware components and hardware related companies are also having the ISO certification. I came to know across this with the ISO-OSI reference model of networking. This was the first time I heard about the ISO. The process of ISO certification was started in the month of May.

The process of certification of ISO for education takes place several phases. I came to know about all of these yesterday. For each and every industry existing today is defined by the bounded standards of ISO. If we consider the education institutes, it is required to complete many of the standards including the academic and administrative resources. As a part of education process several requirements are required to be fulfilled by the institute. It has included with educational amenities, teaching environment, learning environments, institute premises, sports facilities, transport facilities, canteen facilities etc. these all the topics were discussed in the meeting. Several things are already in implementation and some of them are in process.

I think the ISO certification process will be a good experience in my teaching career. Hope we will do better…
