एक्झाम वॉरियर्स - नरेंद्र मोदी

पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी लिहिलेले हे पुस्तक आहे, "एक्झाम वॉरियर्स". अगदी अपघातानेच हे पुस्तक हाती आले. परीक्षेला केंद्रभागी ठेवून लिहिलेले कदाचित हे पहिलेच 'सुटसुटीत' पुस्तक असावे. शालेय जीवनात विद्यार्थी अनेकदा परीक्षांना सामोरे जातात. परीक्षा हेच शालेय विद्यार्थ्यांच्या जीवनात भीतीचे सर्वात मोठे कारण असते. हीच भीती उद्भवू नये, म्हणून काय करावे? या प्रश्नाचे उत्तर या पुस्तकातून मिळते. परीक्षा म्हणजे नक्की काय? स्पर्धा, तंत्रज्ञान, विश्रांती, खेळ, झोप, ताणतणाव, आत्मविश्वास, शिस्त, शैली, कॉपी, आत्मचिंतन, प्रवास, तंदुरुस्ती अशा विविध अंगांना लेखकाने खूप उत्तम प्रकारे व सहजपणे हाताळले आहे. 

                       

वरील काही शब्द वाचायला जरी जड वाटत असले तरी त्यांची शालेय विद्यार्थ्यांच्या दृष्टीने मांडणी छानपणे करण्यात आली आहे. हे पुस्तक विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी एक प्रकारे 'पर्सनल डायरी' सारखे काम करेल असेच आहे. जवळपास प्रत्येक धडा 'क्यूआर कोड'ने पंतप्रधानांच्या ऍपला जोडण्यात आलाय, जेणेकरून विद्यार्थी त्यांचे अनुभव थेट शेअर करू शकतील. पालक, शिक्षक व विद्यार्थी अशा तिघांनाही उद्देशून लिहिलेले हे पुस्तक शालेय विद्यार्थ्यांनी वाचायला हवे. पेंग्विन रँडम हाऊसने प्रकाशित केलेल्या मूळ इंग्रजी पुस्तकाचा मराठी अनुवाद पुण्याच्या अमेय इन्स्पायरिंग बुक्सने केला आहे.

Cheating in Exams

Almost every student out there dream about getting A grade. Some students succeed because of their hard work in studies but lazy and weak students are always looking for shortcuts. They are trying to find methods of cheating in exams. We shouldn’t use any illegal method to pass our exams, because it can destroy our future. So pay you full attention on your studies not at cheating. Anyways we have collected some photographs of students who are using different method of cheating in their exams.

Finally... 100%

Working in education field for last four years, I observed that most of the persons (like eminent educationalists…!) judges a teacher by the result of the students given in the examination for the subject. This has made a real fact in most of the technical education institutes. It does not matter for anyone, what subject the teacher teaches. Can one give the result of subjects like Mathematics to 100%? If he gives, then he will be the best teacher in India. This is the angle of view towards the teachers.
I found most of the teachers have given 100% result for their subjects. Some of them are consistently giving the 100% result for any particular subject. But, the subjects are totally theoretical. Even while checking such papers, examiner does not bother about the contents written in such paper’s answer sheet by the student. Most of them just checks the length of the answer and give the marks. This fact is also known to the students, so they only write in the answer sheets. They don’t bother about the contents that they are writing in the answer sheet. Such subjects always give 100% results. I heard about a teacher that he was hardly teaching 1-2 lectures in a week, if he gets time. Then also, always the result of the subject was 100%. So, what it tells? The percentage of result does not depend only on the teacher but on the type of subject also.
I was teaching the programming subjects from the start of my teaching career. As the matter of logic building comes, students don’t use their brain to solve the question paper. Most of them were not intended to use their brains for the programming. I taught ‘Programming in C- FYIT’ three times, ‘Object Oriented Programming-SYIT’ three times, ‘Java Programming-TYIT’ three times and ‘Advanced Java Programming-TYIT’ one time. But, never gets the 100% result at any time. So, I was happened to be a bad teacher in my career. But some sort of improvement I achieved in my subjects. The results for the serial consecutive years for the subjects are as given below:
1. Programming in C: 50.00% … 76.27% … 91.93%
2. Object Oriented Programming: 65% … 75.38% … 81.53%
3. Java Programming: 72.50% … 90.76% …94.73%
4. Advanced Java Programming: 97.36%
Always, I got improvement from the previous results. For all subject except OOP, I was moving towards, 100%. I was hopeful about all three subjects to get the 100 percent result. Finally, I achieved this by getting 100% students passed in Java Programming this year. Two of them were passed on 40 marks. I realized that, it was the best output of my efforts that I have taken for this batch specially. I also appreciate all the students from 1st rank to 60th rank for their study. I was expecting 10 students to reach the landmark of 90s. But, only one student achieved this. But, it does not matter for me. Students got good marks and it’s satisfactory. Most of these students are having good practical knowledge. I hope they will utilize this in the upcoming subjects to face their final examinations.

We use IT… because we need fast processing?

When I was studying in diploma in engineering, we used to wait for the results for long time. This ‘long time’ was of just 45 days! Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) was declaring result in just 45 days after the examination were over. This was a trend created by MSBTE that time. We were sure about the declaration of result. We have praised the accuracy and time bounding of the technical board. But, as the time passed away and MSBTE used more Information Technology rather than conventional mediums, the declaration of the result delayed time by time. Now this trend has been created by MSBTE.
Why I am writing these all, because till more than two months are over after the examination but the result is not declared yet. If we think in terms of days, there are 70 days are passed after examination. During last few years, the MSBTE has started using the information technology aids to finalize and declare students results. But we found these ways has slowed down the process of results. Still, students are waiting for the results. Now, MSBTE has declared that the results will be declared at the end of the February. Why that much waiting for students? If technical board is not capable of doing their work in time then government must give this contract to any private company. They won’t work like government organizations. MSBTE must be prepared for their work in time. We all think that, ‘Technical education ministry of Maharashtra’ is not having any control over the MSBTE. Is it?

गुरुजींनी सोडवले विद्यार्थ्यांचे पेपर !

नागपूर - महापालिकेच्या शाळेतील शिक्षणाचा दर्जा काय? याची तटस्थ तपासणी करण्यासाठी महापालिकेने एक स्वतंत्र परीक्षा घेतली. त्यात धक्कादायक निकाल लागले. त्यापेक्षाही भयंकर म्हणजे, शेकडो विद्यार्थ्यांचे पेपर्स चक्क गुरुजींनी सोडविले. अशा चाळीस गुरुजींना नोटीस बजावण्यात आल्या असून परीक्षा पद्धतीचे खासगीकरण करण्याचा निर्णय पालिकेने घेतला आहे.

आपल्या शाळेचा निकाल चांगला दाखवण्यासाठी महापालिकेच्या शिक्षकांनी स्वतःच विद्यार्थ्यांची उत्तरपत्रिका सोडवून दिल्याची धक्कदायक बाब प्रशासनाच्या निदर्शनास आली आहे. संबंधित सर्व शिक्षकांचा शोध घेण्यात आला आहे. त्यांना नोकरीवरून काढून का टाकण्यात येऊ नये, अशी नोटीस बजावण्यात आली आहे. हा प्रकार टाळण्यासाठी महापालिकेने आता परीक्षा पद्धतीमध्येच बदल करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे. यानुसार पेपर सेटिंग, मूल्यांकरण आणि तपासणीची कामे खासगी संस्थेमार्फत केली जाणार आहे. महापालिकेच्या प्रस्तावित अर्थसंकल्पात याचा समावेश करण्यात आला आहे. महापालिकेच्या इयत्ता पहिली ते दहावीच्या शैक्षणिक सत्रात दोन घटक चाचण्या, एक सत्र परीक्षा व द्वितीय सत्रात दोन घटक चाचण्या आणि एक वार्षिक परीक्षा घेण्यात येते. यापुढे खासगी संस्था किवा अनुभवी पब्लिकेशन संस्थांना कामे दिली जाणार आहे. याकरिता निविदा बोलावण्यात येणार आहे. निवड करण्यात आलेल्या संस्थेला परीक्षेच्या दिवशी व परीक्षा वेळेच्या एक तासापूर्वी प्रश्‍नपत्रिका पोचवणे आवश्‍यक राहील. तसेच परीक्षेचे संचालन करणे, तपासणी, परीक्षा संपल्यावर पेपर गोळा करणे, मूल्यांकन फेर मूल्यांकन आणि निकालपत्र लावण्याची जबाबदारी सोपवण्यात येणार आहे. महापालिका आयुक्त असीम गुप्ता यांनी उपरोक्त माहिती दिली. याशिवाय महापालिकेच्या अर्थसंकल्पात यावर होणाऱ्या खर्चाची तरतूदसुद्धा करण्यात येणार आहे.

दैनिक सकाळ मध्ये दोन दिवसांपूर्वीच प्रकाशित झालेली ही बातमी...! या बातमीमध्ये शिक्षकांची संख्या निश्चित दिली नसली. तरी दैनिक गावकरी मध्ये यात समाविष्ट शिक्षकांची संख्या ही ४० दिलेली आहे! आपल्या शिक्षणपध्दतीला किती लाजिरवाणी गोष्ट आहे ही. केवळ एकाच शाळेची ही बाब ध्यानात आली. आणखी किती शाळा अश्या प्रकारचे उद्योग करत असतील कोण जाणे. या प्रकारांमुळे शिक्षकांची बदनामी होत आहे. शिवाय विद्यार्थ्यांचे तर मोठेच नुकसान आहे. भारतीय शिक्षणपध्दती सुधारायची असल्यास अशा प्रकारांना आळा घालणे अत्यंत गरजेचे आहे...

थरार…!

हिंदी चित्रपटातील एक प्रसंग...
इन्स्पेक्टर असणारा हिरो खलनायकाला पकडुन आणतो. परंतु, खलनायकाच्या चेहऱ्यावर कोणतीच अपराधीपणाची भावना नाही. त्याला माहीत असते की, त्याचा गॉडफादर का एक मोठा राजकारणी मंत्री आहे, जो त्याची सुटका करुन देईल. पण, हिरोला मात्र आपल्या कर्तव्याशी बांधिलकी आहे. प्रेक्षकांना वाटतं, आता हिरो व्हीलनची खुप धुलाई करणार. प्रत्यक्षात तसे होत नाही. खलनायकाला लॉकअप मध्ये नेत असताना फोनची रिंग वाजते. हिरो तो फोन उचलतो. पलिकडुन होम मिनिस्टरचा किंवा कमिशनर साहेबांचा फोन आवाज येतो...’तुमने अभी जिस को पकडा है, उसे छोड दो...!’. शेवटी हिरोलाही वरिष्ठांचे ऐकावे लागते. व गुंड अर्थात खलनायक हिरोच्या तोंडावर टिच्चुन सुटुन जातो. इथे हिरोच्या तळपायाची आग मस्तकात जाते. त्याला काय करु काय नको, असे होते. प्रेक्षकांनाही आपली ’सिस्टीम’ काय आहे, हे कळायला वेळ लागत नाही. आणि त्यांनाही याचे विशेष अप्रुप वाटत नाही.

ही झाली चित्रपटातील गोष्ट... पण, हा प्रसंग तुम्ही इन्स्पेक्टर नसतानाही तुमच्या जीवनात घडला तर...? काय थरार असेल ना तो...!
हा थरार मी तीन ते चार वेळा माझ्या जीवनात अनुभवलाय. दोन वर्षांपुर्वी माझ्या एका विषयाचे एक्स्टर्नल प्रॅक्टीकल होते. एका ढ मुलाचे सबमिशनही पुर्ण झाले नव्हते. तरीही त्याला मी प्रॅक्टीकलसाठी बसु दिले. पण त्याला मात्र काहीच येत नव्हते. थोड्याच वेळात मला माझ्या एका वरीष्ठांचा फोन आला (कदाचित तो त्यांचा कोणी नातेवाईक लागत असावा किंवा त्याच्या नातेवाईकांशी वरीष्ठांचे हितसंबंध असावेत). आणि त्या ढ मुलाला पास करण्यास सांगण्यात आले. त्यावेळी मात्र माझी तळपायाची आग मस्तकात गेली. त्या हिंदी चित्रपटातील हिरोसारखीच माझी परिस्थिती झाली होती. पण, मी त्याच्यासारखे वागलो नाही. शेवटी चित्रपटात आणि वास्तव जीवनात काही फरक असतो की नाही...? मी माझ्या सद्सदविवेक बुद्धीचे ऐकुन त्या मुलाला पास करण्यास कोणताच हातभार लावला नाही. व त्या कारणाने तो मुलगा नापास झाला. याचा परिणाम अखेरीस व्हायचा तोच झाला. पुढील वर्षीपासुन मला एक्स्टर्नल प्रॅक्टीकल साठी recommend करणे बंद करण्यात आले ते कायमचेच...! यामागे वरीष्ठांचा मला धडा शिकवण्याचा हेतु होता की मला बदलवण्याचा होता, ते मला समजले नाही.
पण मला एक सांगावेसे वाटते....
जित्याची खोड मेल्याशिवाय जात नाही.....
कुत्र्याचे शेपुट वाकडे ते वाकडेच.....
आणि, कितीही पाय बांधुन ठेवले तरी गाढव लाथ मारणे सोडत नाही.....
